A bruise is an injury appearing as an area of discolored skin on the body, caused by a blow or impact rupturing underlying blood vessels. Bruises can also be caused by nutrient deficiency, insufficient blood clotting factors, and serious illnesses such as leukemia. They can occur at any age
Symptoms of the bruise vary depending on the cause. Discoloration of the skin is often the first sign. Some bruises appear with very little pain, and you might not notice them. You may also experience pain and tenderness in the area of bruising. These symptoms generally improve as the bruise heals.
Research – a 2016 study demonstrated that topical application of lavender pure essential oil promoted collagen synthesis and had the potential to promote external wound healing.
Topically apply the Wounds and Scrapes Blend as well as the Frankincense/Myrrh blend over the wound, as needed.
Bruise balm – combine 10 drops each Rose Geranium 5ml 10ml and Helichrysum 5ml 10ml with ¼ cup of coconut oil, and apply it directly to the bruise to encourage circulation and promote healing.
Supplement with Vitamin C – an antioxidant that helps manufacture collagen, which is critical for healing damaged blood vessels. Take 500 to 1000 milligrams daily.
