Condition:

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome CFS

Definition:

Myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) or chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a long term condition that causes persistent fatigue (exhaustion) that doesn’t go away with sleep or rest and affects everyday life. It most commonly affects the nervous and immune systems. Sometimes it is diagnosed as post viral fatigue syndrome (PVFS).

People with ME-CFS experience severe fatigue associated with post-exertional malaise (PEM). This is when the body is not able to recover after using even small amounts of energy, leading to a flare up in symptoms. This fatigue feels very different to ordinary tiredness and may take a day or two to kick in after physical, mental or emotional exertion.

Symptom:

The symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome (ME-CFS) vary from person to person, and there may be times when your symptoms improve and you’ll be able to do some everyday activities. At other times, symptoms may get worse, affecting your daily life.

If you experience new symptoms talk to your GP or specialist as the new symptoms may be unrelated to ME-CFS. Women often find that symptoms worsen at different times in their menstrual cycle. Not everyone will experience all of the symptoms but some of the common ones are listed below.

Fatigue

Severe and persistent fatigue or exhaustion most, or all of the time is one of the symptoms of ME-CFS that can help diagnosis. This feels very different from ordinary tiredness. Simple physical or mental activities, or combinations of activities, can leave people with chronic fatigue feeling completely exhausted and can also lead to an increase in other symptoms. This is known as post-exertional malaise (PEM) or is sometimes called “payback”. This is when the body isn’t able to recover after using even small amounts of energy.

Other symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome include:

  • feeling generally unwell
  • pain
  • sleep disturbance
  • problems with concentration, thinking, and memory (‘brain fog’)
  • speech and language problems, including word-finding difficulties
  • poor temperature control
  • dizziness
  • hypersensitivity to light and sound
  • nausea
  • loss of appetite

If pain, especially muscle pain, is more of a problem than fatigue, fibromyalgia, may need to be considered. Fibromyalgia is a separate condition with its own diagnosis.

Frustration, anxiety, low mood, and depression are sometimes experienced by people with chronic fatigue syndrome because of the impact of the condition and its symptoms on their lives. This does not mean that ME-CFS is a mental health condition.

Description:

Protocol:

Drink 2 – 3 capsules, throughout the day of the Chronic Fatigue for the first week, thereafter, one capsule daily.

Drink 1 to 2 teaspoons, MZN 150g 450g, once a day; swallow the MZN, as you would swallow yogurt.

Chronic fatigue can be associated with a lack of sleep; therefore diffuse (see below) during the night for 8 hours, the following pure oils: Cedarwood 5ml 10ml, Vetiver 5ml 10ml, and Roman Chamomile 5ml 10ml.

To assist with brain fog; diffuse during the day, while working/studying, one of the following diffuser blends: Brain Blend OR Memory Blend.

For intense body and muscle pain, topically apply the Sore Muscle and Massage Blend.

For depression symptoms drink 1 capsule full, once a day, each; Depression Support Ingestible and Gut Cleanse Blend.

If you have to drink more than one capsule a day, spread them over the course of the day, never more than two capsules at a time. Spreading the capsules throughout the day assists the body with proper absorption. Always good to have a very small snack/fruit before drinking capsules.

Also diffuse (see below) Depression/Anxiety Blend, Neroli 5ml 10ml, Rose Geranium 5ml 10ml and Frankincense 5ml  10ml.

Apply Peppermint 5ml 10ml throughout the day over the temples and inhale (see below), as needed.

Supplement with B-complex Vitamins, Magnesium and Potassium.

Inhale Method

Drip 2-3 drops in the palm of the hands, rub once to open the molecules, rubbing will evaporate the oil, cup your hands around your mouth and nose, and deeply inhale.

Diffuse 2-3 drops of each oil; maximum 10-12 drops in total, at a time, unless otherwise advised.

NOTE: Always use an ultrasonic diffuser (with a diffusing duration of at least 8 hours), to diffuse pure essential oils. Do not use a humidifier, air purifier, or a candle, as they only smell good and have no further effect. An electric, ultrasonic, diffuser dispenses essential oils into the air through vibrations of a plate which causes ultrasonic waves, creating microscopic particles of oils that disperse into the air. It, therefore, breaks open the essential oil volatile molecules, to have a medicinal effect in that it can penetrate through the blood-brain barrier. It is always good to use a diffuser at night while you are sleeping.
In addition:
Healing Bath Salts – Mix 3 cups of Epsom salt and 1 cup baking soda, and also add 40 drops of your favorite essential oil. Then add 1 cup of this mix to your bath (as warm as you can stand). Soak for 20 to 40 minutes.
Lavender and Ylang Ylang relax the mind and body and also increase circulation. Rosemary improves energy by decreasing inflammation and supporting brain health.  Holy Basil is an adaptogen that improves energy and reduces stress. Roman Chamomile is ideal for  fighting stress and insomnia.
