Teething can be very challenging for babies and parents. While teething can begin as early as three months of age, you’ll most likely see the first tooth start pushing through your baby’s gum line when your little one is between foru and seven months old.
Researchers note that during teething, there is a notable increase in biting, drooling, gum rubbing, sucking, irritability, wakefulness and ear rubbing. Your baby might also have a facial rash and decreased appetite. These symptoms tend to manifest in the few days before and after a tooth’s emergence from the gums. Although tender and swollen gums could cause your baby’s temperature to be a little higher than normal, teething doesn’t usually cause high fever or diarrhoea. Essential oils such as clove can help your baby through the most uncomfortable teething symptoms. Remember to use common sense when it comes to essential oils and babies-as a little bit goes a long way.
Apply the Teething Roller over the jawline and then apply to your own fingertip to rub over the baby’s gums.
Pineapple Core – allow your baby to suck on a non-ripe (very hard) pineapple core. Bromelain found in the stem and core of pineapple helps with inflammation and pain.
Teething oil – mix 1 teaspoon olive oil with 1 to 2 drops of Clove 5ml 10ml. Shake very well and apply to the gums with your fingertip. Reapply every 2 to 3 hours as needed. Test the mixture on yourself before reapplying to make sure it is not too strong.
