An ingrown toenail develops when the sides of the toenail grow into the surrounding skin.
The big toe is often affected, either on one or both sides. The nail curls and pierces the skin, which becomes red, swollen and tender.
Other possible symptoms include:
-pain if pressure is placed on the toe
-inflammation of the skin at the end of the toe
-a build-up of fluid (oedema) in the area surrounding the toe
-an overgrowth of skin around the affected toe (hypertrophy)
-bleeding
-white or yellow pus coming from the affected area
Eucalyptus 5ml 10ml treats inflammation to help heal the ingrown toenail quicker. Using a cotton ball or soft cloth, apply a carrier oil such as coconut oil and 2 drops of both Tea Tree 5ml 10ml and Eucalyptus 5ml 10ml.
Soak your feet in warm water with 1 cup of Epsom salt and 5 drops Tea Tree 5ml 10ml (the essential oil is called Melaleuca Alternifolia). This will relieve pain, and become a go-to home remedy.
Soak your foot (or both feet), sit back, and rest up for 20-30 minutes or until the water turns cold.
You can apply a drop of Frankincense 5ml 10ml to the area after cleaning it to help heal the tissue faster.
Put the toe in the water with 3 drops of each of the following:
.. while rubbing the Epsom salt into the affected area. The Epsom salt will absorb into the skin and help to soften and dissolve portions of the nail that has become embedded in the skin.
